ELAINE’S PROCESS . Her sculptures are built hollow, by hand. This allows her to work dynamically yet really control and refine forms that are quite asymmetrical. The slabs are textured and colours added before construction begins. Elements are often completed on site, especially the texturing. Some sculptures come with a plinth made specifically for them from reclaimed victorian chimney pots and timber, or from impressed, textured clay, coloured by hand. Elaine uses bark, seedheads, shells and foraged materials as her tools. Each piece is unique and can also be exhibited outside. The words included on the sculptures, and plinths, are taken from conversations and research
Prices quoted are for online or direct purchases. Please contact Elaine to purchase pieces, organise delivery or to discuss available work, workshops, or plinths

Medium sized Ceramic Figurative Sculptures: : a shared narrative. My process involves combining environments with construction and expression: I sketch, I forage, collecting images, recording feelings, emotions, experiences and stories. Memories are transient and ephemeral; my work is an attempt to capture that memory of what I see and experience, representing it in a more permanent form. My sculptures represent the narrative between the Feminine Aspect, Environments and Pagan Mythos. Once I start manipulating the clay body, the result is a collaboration between my hands and the clay itself; it picks up my gestures and moods, responding and revealing itself. Each of these sculptures has established its own personality and is a unique piece. They can be displayed outside OR indoors.. They love conversations.
